"Well, anything then!"

"Ok, cool it a bit." She looked at the door as Jamie walked in wearing nothng but his jeans and his hair was a mess. "Afternoon."

"Afternoon." Jamie smiled and he got him and Emelia a drink. "Who are the people?"

"My friend Orion and his mom, I thought it would be nice to at least have a parental figure in the house that acts like an adult."

"Just never been allowed a pet," Orion puffed his cheeks out in a pout and his mother murmured under her breath, "No, you just brought home dead animals and brought them back to life." Clearing her throat silently, she gave a bow of respect and muttered, "I'm Alaura. Orion's mother."

"We've met before!" Orion grinned cheerfully and then added, "My momma came home!"

"Jamie, Ryan's big brother and now legal guardian."

Ryan looked between them.

"Now you sister go to your room and get changed, you're showing too much skin."

"Isn't she too old to need a legal guardian?" Orion sounded genuinely curious, not noticing Alaura's wince at the subject.

"Until she is 18." Jamie told him.

"It's a good thing that you decided to." He kissed her cheek.

"Oh don't start getting all lovey dovey, it makes me sick." Ryan teased.

He kissed her back.

Ryn walked back downstairs now fully dressed. "Don't you have the shop to run today Jamie?"

"Yes, Little Miss Killjoy."

"I might be able to."

"Eh? How old are you then?" Orion twisted to face Ryan, head tilted over in confusion.

Alaura was quietly walking backwards towards the door, hoping not to be noticed.

"I want to know everything about the outside. See, if I take more than ten steps from the doorway, I start to die. I wanna know everything, and only other people can tell me. Good, bad. It's all the same to me." Daniel turned his eyes to his lap, looking a little upset, but still smiling brightly.

"It can be made up. Last time, Keagan told me some fairytales. Like 'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'Goldilocks'. Do you know fairytales with the happy ends? I like them..."

"Nope!" Daniel lifted his head, looking up at her with excitement clear on his face. "Is it a nice story?"

"Nice endings are always the best, even if the story is awful. Do you think I'll get a nice ending? L-Like maybe a knight, like you or Keagan can come and take me away from here and I'll be fine and we can all be happy, huh?" Daniel was clearly getting excited at the prospect of a story, looking up at her gleefully and something close to adoration on his face.
