About thirty minutes after that had gone to bed, the same day Farrah had burned Adrian, Tamara lay beside him. Running her fingertips up and down his arms as she whispered sweet nothings; trying to cure the uneasay atmosphere still.

"Uh..." Dexter hesitated before doing as asked.

"I'm fine, just try sleep..." Adrian whispered.

"I can't move too much, might wake her." Astrid explained quietly, pressing her lips to his. "I'm glad you had a nice day."

"Okay, okay." Tamara whispered, continuing the movement until she got to the bottom of his arm; just interlocking her fingers with his instead, "Sleep well."

"Yeah a little bit, mostly work though."

"Normally, when you're down, I've managed to make you smile by now and it's scaring me that I haven't gotten one out of you this time.. I love you, so does Alex and Farrah does too even if you don't believe it. Please believe me when I tell you she's just going through a phase, it's all just a reaction to her age and losing me before. It'll pass. You're a good dad, to both of them. You aren't your parents, your better than them, our kids know they're loved unconditionally, they know that if things ever got too bad to come to us. No more beating yourself up, it's just one of your low days, close your eyes... listen to me when I tell you everythings okay, let me hold you. When you wake up in the morning it's all going to be better, I promise."

Astrid nodded, smiling.

"I give up with her... I can't deal with her. I'm not strong enough..."

"Think of all of the thinks you used to say that you weren't strong enough to do, and you've done them all." She whispered, opening her eyes and pressing her forehead against his so she would meet his gaze. "It's just a bad day, my love, close your eyes for me."

"I cleaned, found a funny show, Maisie came home and she fell asleep quickly but she watched a bit of tv with me which was really nice. I don't remember the last time one of the kids came and showed in an interest in me. It meant a lot, and I doubt she even realises it."

"How do you deal with me? I can't even deal with me..."

"i love you, you love me. We're married. We deal with each other, help each other." Tamara whispered, "I'm just glad you know you can call me when your feeling low now, you've improved so much. You aren't as difficult to deal with as you think you are. Now come on, like you told me, just sleep... it's okay, close your eyes."

"We take away her cigarettes, try and stay on top of it as much as we can. Wait for the phase to pass."

"We'll find another way," Tamara hummed, letting go of his hand and moving her hand up to trace his jawline. "I love you."

Astrid nodded.

Dexter put his laptop case down and scooped Maisie up gently, carrying her upstairs.

"And I love you."

Dexter came back down.

"So one day a farmer was sat in a field with his cows, he'd lost track so decided to count them. He counted them to about 196 cows in total. When the weather took a turn for the worse, and he rounded them all up to put them in the stable, he had 200."

Astrid met him half away across the room, sliding her arms around his neck and kissing him deeply.
