Creatures of the Dark

She said nothing just silently studying his face.

He raised an eyebrow slightly watching her.

Rylee smiled softly but that was it.

He smiled slightly.

"Max...What's happening?"

"What do you mean?"

"I...well uh..." she began not sure how to ask what she was wondering.

He waited for her, the perfect poker face.

It didn't help her nervous confusion that she couldn't read his emotions at all and so she when she spoke it was quietly and without looking at him. "We're friends?"

"Of course." He told her.

She nodded okay with this.

"Was that all?"

"I guess so?"

"Okay."

She just nodded.

He smiled softly.

She smiled brightly resting her head lightly on his shoulder.

He held her close.

She leaned against him more.

He kept his arms around her.

Rylee eventually dozed off feeling safe beside him.

He stayed still so that she could sleep.

She subconsciously curled up into his side, her fingers tangling loosely in his shirt.

Eventually Max fell into a light sleep.

Rylee didn't seem to be waking up anytime soon.
