Creatures of the Dark

He slid an arm around her.

She couldn't say a word her emotions confused but the look on her face showed she was happy.

He didn't say anything either, not wanting to say the wrong thing.

She was rather curious about what he was thinking.

He looked at her and smiled softly.

She lifted her head smiling back at him.

He smiled back.

"You don't have to be so nice to me...you know...if you uh...if you don't feel the same..."

"I do feel the same."

"...You do?.."

He nodded.

The smile on her face grew and she there was a light in her eyes that wasn't always there.

He looked at her and he tried to smile more.

She looked right back and she could tell he was trying and that was enough for her.

She laid her head on his shoulder.

He held her close.

Marie smiled warmly at him.

He smiled back.

Rylee wouldn't admit yet just how confused she was by all this but right now she was enjoying his company and not being all alone.

Max was happy in her company.

After being in the silence for awhile she looked up at him.
