Creatures of the Dark

Seren stepped into the gardens, brushing fingertips against the flora at her waist line to encourage the scent and pollen to burst. However her fingers curled around the petals as Thorin came into sight, holding her breath in disbelief, recognising him - even from behind.

"Mm, will he be happy about that?"

“Not sure but I’ll deal with it tomorrow.”

Thorin hadn’t noticed her he was taking in the flora of the garden

Seren's arms skid around him from behind, ducking her head to nuzzle her face into his neck. Breathing against his skin, "I don't remember falling asleep, but, this is my favourite dream these days."

"He'll be b- busy with your mother todays."

“good point, don’t really want to interrupt that.”

He slid his arms around her. “Good thing you’re not dreaming.”

"Don't be cruel, of course I am dreaming. I watched you die, casanova. I watched you die." She whispered, slowly moving around him so she could perch on his lap. Arms wrapping loosely around his neck as her face became completely enveloped in the crook of his neck.

"Mm, no. Looks likes yiu stuck with mes."

“And at what part do you wake up my rose?” He asked her as he held her.

“You say it like it is a chore.” He told her playfully. “Anyway if you sober up a little bit I can give you your birthday present.” He told ber

"Never, I hope I never do. This is my favourite place to be." She whispered, hands edging around to tangle her fingers in the hair at the back of his head. Her voice still muffled by his neck.

"Pressents?"

He smiled softly. "How do your dreams normally go my rose?" He whispered.

"Well, present." He told her. "But you can't have it until you've sobered up or it wouldn't feel right."

"It's just this. Thus is all it is."

"Oh?" She hummed blearily.

"Then let me add one small bit to it." He told her, moving to look at her. "Kiss me my love."

"It's alright, sleep my darling."

"No. Not tireds." She insisted, peeling herself away from him and walking to the other side of the room to pick up a bottle of wine from the countertop. Unscrewing the lid to down it.

Seren gulped, leaning back so she could see his face. Her hands moving around to cup it in her palms, thumbs running in small circles against his cheeks. "How is this real?"

"You have our son to thank for this." He told her, moving a hand into her hair.

He smiled softly watching her.

Seren swallowed, leaning her head towards his hand. Eyes closed.

When her eye closed he kissed her lips

She kissed hin back deeply.

He kept the kiss for as long as she did. “I missed you my wife.”

"Did it even feel like time had passed, for you?" She whispered, keeping her eyes closed as she leant in to touch her forehead to his.

“Yes, I could see everything I saw you grieve my darling but you couldn’t hear or feel me.”

"Oh, well. You've probably changed your perception of me now, mm? You were never meant to see such things."

“Why would I change my perception of you?” He asked. “Did you not see me when you died before I could resurrect you?” He asked ber

She shook her head. "I saw nothing, for me it was merely..blackness."

He nodded. “Well would it change your perspective about me if I told you that I mourned over you for days? That I destroyed many souls through anger?”

"A demon, yet alone a demon King, feeling such things?" She questioned, shaking her head in denial.

“Of course, you are the love of my life, of course I would feel such things.”

"You don't have emotions so intense," She whispered, not unkindly.
