Damian looked to her. “I’ll go soon, we need to check on our people.”

"You will do no good checking on anyone if you drop down dead."

"Babe I've got a few morminutes, try not to worry."

"Minutes?!"

“I can’t exactly tell how long I can withstand this but I at least have a few minutes.”

"That's long enough to get you to healers." She gulped, slipping her arms around his torso and taking in a deep breath so she could pull him up to his feet. "I'm not losing you. No, not today."

“Alessia, I’m okay.” He promised moving to get to his feet.

“I’ll check on your people on my way back to Elliott.” Belle told him. “She’s right you need to get that seen to.”

"You're not. You don't [i]look[=i] okay, and you've told me you have minutes. If you spend those minutes arguing with me I am going to die after you and slap you stupid." Alessia snarled, pulling him forward with her - through the rubble towards the healing wing.

Belle went off to do as she said as she made her way back to Elliott and now she was alone she let the pain of her own wound take over.

Damion gave up arguing

"No one is looking at you right now," Alessia continued, voice dropping to a whisper. "They are too focused on themselves. You do not have to be the untouchable king, not with me. You hide your pain from me too much these days."

He smiled softly. “It’s still my job to care for our people even if that is the case.”

"I am not our people."

“You are the queen love.” He reminded her

"Before that though, I am your partner. I do not pretend with you so don't do it with me. Why do we always argue when you are hurt? Why do you never listen?"

Rylee did her very best to maintain the conversation but at times it was clear that she still seeked out reassurance from Max even if it was just a look from him.

“Because I’m stubborn and hard headed.” He told her

Every time she looked to him Max gave her an encouraging smile

"Your just upsetting me." She whispered.

“And I’m sorry for that.”

"If you would rather die to check on your people then leave it to someone else to do, and live for me and your daughter then fine. I will not forgive it though."

“Alessia most of our people who can check on them are dead.” He told her.

Alessia peeled herself away, shaking her head and walking towards where she had left the guard. Hands trembling.

He leant himself against the wall to follow her

"Go and check on the rest of the world, Damian." She sneered over her shoulders. "That's what I am doing. You have no interest in looking after yourself, I'm nit doing it either. I am tired of fighting."

“I’m not fighting.” He reminded her

"Yes you fucking are." She hissed. "Go away, I walked away from you for a fucking reason!"
