Across Seas - Remade

Maria fought against him, sobbing; terrified of him leaving without her again and heartbroken by the news of her parents.

Luke just exhaled shakily.

"Don't worry lass, he won't be able to go anywhere." One of the crew members told her.

She looked at him, holding her arms out to him. "Come on, my turn to give you heat." She told him.

"No," Luke mumbled quietly, "I uh, I'm going to swim down to the ship. See if I can save any of the food for us."

Maria let out a shaky sigh, her fights stopping as she gave up just leaning heavily into him once again, trying to stifle her sobs.

(( Want to skip a few hours for Maria and Killain? Say it gets dark and Killain's not back so Maria sneaks off to find him and it's really cold outside? Especially for them since they're already soaked ))

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" She asked. "It's dark and we don't know what is down there."

James held her close.

((yeah sure, do you want to post first?))

"We need food, supplies, drinkable water otherwise we aren't going to last here." Luke whispered, "I won't be down there too long, don't worry. Just.. trust me, please?"

After a few hours had passed, Maria quietly left the tavern; wrapping her arms around herself as she wandered towards the sandy beach, assuming thats where Killain would of gone looking.

She went quiet for a few minutes before she nodded. "Okay, be careful, and come back to me." She told him, kissing his cheek and then his lips, it would have been romantic if they weren't in such a position.

Killian was stood on the bed, waist deep in water, looking out over the dim horizon for any sign that his sister was alive. "Amora!" He shouted, hoping for some kind of answer, the poor guy was angry at James, angry at himself for not saving his sister and scared that he had lost her.

"Mhmm," He hummed, sliding off of the wood and disappearing beneath the water.

Maria quietly walked into the water, sliding her arms around his torso from behind and pressing her lips to the crook of his neck so he knew it was her. Gently trying to tug him back out of the water.

"Wouldn't you rather prefer to be with James?" He asked, not looking at her or even moving to hold her. "Wouldn't you rather have someone who can give you everything right now?"

Amora waited for him and as she waited, she curled up on her side in a ball, trying to keep warm.

Maria just tightened her arms around him, making a grumble of discontent; frustrated that she couldn't vocalise any words. Instead she dropped her arms after taking a deep breath out, walking around so she was in front of him and sliding one of her arm around his neck, the other resting on the back of his head so she could bring their foreheads together, meeting his gaze.

He pressed his forehead to hers and he was trying to get control of his emotions as he looked at her.

Maria one of her hands to rest over his chest where she could feel his heartbeat; tracing against him: Warm With that she pulled back and reached for his hand, trying to tug him out of the water and towards the tavern.

He broke his touch on her and looked back out over the sea, the sun was rising and there was no sign of his sister so he sighed and nodded, heading back towards dry land with her.

Amora remained lying on the piece of wood waiting for Luke, and she suddenly sat bolt upright when she heard something break the surface, but what she saw wasn't Luke, but a dark fin. The mere sight of it made her blood in cold, especially when it disappeared again.

When they got back to the tavern, Maria pulled a chair out for him to sit on; wandering behind the bar to pull out some blankets.

Luke pulled himself onto the plank a few minutes later, only returning with three apples.

Amora was sitting curled up on the wood shaking, her eyes wide, and when he got back on the wood, she threw her arms around him, relieved that he was alright.

Killian went with her.

"Woah, careful..." Luke frowned, hugging her gently, "What's wrong? You're shaking like a leaf... you're that cold?"

Maria quietly unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it from him. Using a towel to try and dry him off as much as she could before wrapping the blanket around him as she sat next to him.

"Shark fin." She whispered. "It went down not long before you came up, I thought it had got you." She whispered, but despite the whisper, he would have been able to hear her tears.

Killian took over from her when the crew started staring and he gave them a murderous glare that had them going back to what they were originally doing and he wrapped the blanket around the pair of them. "You shouldn't have come after me, you could have caught your death."

"No, no I could fight of a dang shark don't you worry about that." Luke laughed quietly, tangling his fingers in her hair. "Don't worry, don't be scared. I'm here."

Rose shook her head in the negative, reaching over to grab some parchment and quill from the nearby table: I came after you because I was worried that you would. Don't worry about them staring, why does it matter if they know we care about each other or not? You're sister will be okay, look around, Luke isn't here either which means they're probably together. Which means she's safe, because you and him are the same, you'd give your life for who you love

She took a deep breathe and nodded. "Okay, I'll try." She told him.

He looked at her. "It matters because I love you, you have never actually given any indication that you feel the same way." He told her. "A kiss means little to a pirate, you know that." He told her. "And I hope you're right about my sister."

A kiss means a lot to me though, and you should know that by now

"We'll be okay."

"It's still nice to hear it, or in our case, see it." He told her.

She nodded. "Did you manage to get anything?"

This is the first time you told me, so don't try and turn his into me being the one who is in the wrong. You hesitate to be intimate, emotionally intimate whenever anyone else is around. Are you ashamed of me?! You're like a child who twists things and storms off if his mind isn't read. Don't bring up my voice too, it's sensitive, I don't like and maybe if you hadn't of left me on that island I wouldn't of gone through a year of hell. I would of rather of lost a hand because then at least I don't struggle so much to be acknowledged. Maria wrote quickly, handwriting barely eligible the further in and more angry she got. Shoving it into his hand and slapping him across the face before moving to the back of the tavern, out of sight, into the small spare rooms.

"Three apples."

"Why can you never have a normal relationship?" One of the crew members asked. "I'm starting to think that you like getting slapped."

"Bite me." Killian told them and he followed her, somehow finding her room pretty easily and he went to knock on the door.

"Don't you think that you've done enough?" James asked, stopping Killian from knocking on the door. "She's better off without you, you're a no good pirate and as soon as people realise who you are, you're going in the noose."

She nodded. "Okay, looks like your rationing abilities are being put to the test."

Maria swallowed thickly when she heard James outside, getting to his feet and opening the door quietly. Taking Killain's hand and pulling him into the room, glaring at James.

"Mm," He hummed with a nod, "You'll be feeling lucky to have me if we get through this."

James went to grab the door to stop her from being alone with Killian, but Killian shut it before he could, locking the door. Killian looked at her. "Maria, I'm sorry, I'm just worried for Amora, we've never actually been separated this long and it's starting to make me nervous."

"Hey, where's the optimism gone?" She asked him. "But I'm lucky to have you any time."

"No space for optimism, only plans."

Maria shook her head, rummaging through an old bag in the corner of the room until she found a photo of her and her parents; showing it to him before covering up their faces with her fingers and only leaving hers visible. Passing it to him so he could see it properly, she sat herself down in the corner and pulled her knees to her chest with a sob.
