“You know I regret that.” He told her as he moved to stand up. “You know I regret not giving you what you want.”

"Until it all caves in, until you understand what exactly I am running from." He swallowed, though leant into her touch. "All of it is real, every scary story you have ever heard."

“I can manage it with your help.” She told him. “We do this together like we do everything else.”

"Don't argue either." She rolled her eyes then, leaning back on the bed.

"Yeah, maybe.." He whispered, laying it a flat hand and watching the tendrils of shadows create the cerebrus again, this time miniature. Watching it play.

She looked to him and watched him.

"This is uh... I call her Nexus. She is whatever size I will her to be, does whatever I ask of her. She's a good dog."

She watched the Cerberus. “For a theee headed dog…she’s cute.”

"Want to hold her?"

"Come here, then?" She whispered, patting the spot beside her

“Am I able to?” She asked. “I don’t have magic like you, and what if she doesn’t like me?”

He moved to join her

"I have control," He moved a fingertips, and the flicker of a dark string controlling the beast was visible. "See? Hold out your palm."

Alessia wrapped her arms around him, resting her chin on top of his head quietly.

She held her hand out as he said watching.

He rested his he’s don her chest. “You know sometimes I ask myself why did you settle down with me?” He asked her quietly. “I’ve asked myself that every day since Rose and Zion were born.”

"Why do you wonder that?" She asked quietly, trailing her fingertips up and down his arm affectionately, one arm wrapping around to hold him.

Zion watched quietly as the creature took tentative steps onto her hand, Nexus wagging her tail as she looked up at her.

Sabrina smiled. “Hello there Nexus.” She looked to Zion. “Can I stroke her?”

“Come on Alessia I’m not exactly the perfect role model am I?” He asked her. “I wasn’t there for Zions life because of that war,” he told her. “I’ve made so many mistakes with Rose I don’t get how you even agreed to have another kid with me.”

"Behind the ear," He advised quietly. "Her favourite spot."

"Niether of us are perfect," She countered gently, "I could ask you the exact same questions about myself. "I love you, silly. It doesn't matter how much these people walk around with their noses in the air, pretending like that know the man beneath the crown. It doesn't matter how much our children make out like i am the worst person in the world for you, like I don't understand or this and that. I have known you longer than all of them, when they say you don't feel a thing I can read the flicker in your eye or a twitch of your finger that gives away everything you are feeling."

He smiled softly. “Even if I’m a sarcastic arsehole?” He asked her he was mainly serious but there was a slight bit of playfulness there.

Sabrina nodded and she found the spot quite easily

"Even then," She hummed, ducking her head to press her face into his hair and take in his scent. Voice still muffled as she questioned, "Has anyone said anything, love? Where has this come from?"

Sabrina smiled softly. “Can we have tonight where it’s just us Aeron?” She asked. “We can collect the boys in the morning.”

"Ah... why did the uh - why were the angels trying to take her?"

Zion nodded, kissing her cheek gently. "Just us, yes."

“Because they knew who he was.” He told her. “The angels have known where Zion was for years but they’ve started doing this taking random lives every so often, trying to mess up the balance.”

"What good does that do for them?"

Zion closed his eyes, kissing her back deeply.

“If it upsets the balance demons can’t feed, which means we get weaker.”

She kissed him back just as deeply

"You think they're planning another attack?"

“Maybe.” He told her.

Sabrina broke the kiss after a few moments. “I love you so much Aeron but please don’t lie to me again.” She pleaded
