He frowned sligjtly before he had it disappear. “I feel well.” He assured her

He pulled her into his lap for a better hold onto her

"You seem sad today," Alessia frowned, her arms wrapping loosely around his neck instead then. Tangling her fingers in the back of his hair to bring him closer.

"Lets try sitting up then, mm? See how you feel with that."

"My father would kill me, in.. the most literally sense of the word."

He nodded. “Alright.” Thorin agreed.

“Even if you had one piece of chocolate?” She asked before she reached under the table and she held out a square of chocolate to him. “I won’t tell.” She promised.

He tangled a hand into her hair enjoying her closeness. “I know.” He sighed in content against her

"What's wrong, love?" Alessia whispered near his ear. "You were having nightmares again last night, is the war haunting you?"

"He would know, he does well at knowing if people are lying or not."

"Okay, go on then. Try by yourself first."

He nodded, it took him a while with the stiffness that he felt, but he managed to sit up on his elbows.

"Then we don't give him a reason to ask" She suggested.

"It's not the war, it's everything else." He whispered.

"That's it," She praised gently, moving the pillows to help support him. "All the way, keep going."

"Everything else? Tell me," Alessia encouraged softly, "Or... or don't, if you don't want to. We can just sit like this, I can just hold you."

Azriel swallowed, swallowed back fear, and shook his head. "No."

H eventally managed to sit up using the pillows to lean against them.

Rose nodded. "How he treats you isn't how a father treats their child."She whispered, whether she intendedhim to hear or not was left undecided. "He won't hurt you anymore" She promised. "I can be very persuasive."

"I will when I know how to explain it."

"That's it, nice and slow." She praised lightly.

"You don't know how he treats me, don't know the half of it." He raked fingers through his hair. "I have a very skilled member of staff who is very handy with make-up."

"It's okay," Alessia assured softly, arms tightening around him. "I've got you. Whatever is going on, I'm here."

“Then show me.” She requested resting a hand on his knee. “Let me help you.”

He held her close brushing a hand through her hair

Thorin nodded

Azriel shook his head. "No one is meant to see, even my mother does not know."

Alessia closed her eyes, not moving, nor saying another word. Listening to his breathing.

"When your ready to try standjng; just say."

“Azriel if your father has his way I will be your wife one day, let’s not start with secrets, if you don’t want to show me that’s okay,” she told him. “But I hope one day you will let me see all of you, even the things you hide.”

Thorin nodded. “Not just now.”

He listened to her heart more than anything

She gently ran fingers through his hair, only pulling back slightly after ten minutes had passed. Cupping his face in her hands with a sad smile, "I love you, okay? Don't forget that, don't doubt it. Not ever."

"No rush,"

"He - He'll kill me, if he knows that you know. You won't be marrying me then, you can't see."

“And I love you.” He promised her, his eyes meeting hers.

“I won’t let him kill you or hurt you.” She told him. “Azriel, we can be a team, I haven’t daggers now I can protect you.” She promised

"No, you were given those as an olive branch you won't be using them as a weapon against us."

"I know." She whispered. "How are you feeling now?"

“I would use them to protect you.” She told him and she grabbed the daggers to make sure he could take them.

“A bit better.” He told her

"You won't be using them at all."
