Creatures of the Dark

The queen looked to her. “I’m sorry for everything that has happened to you.” She told her.

“Can I just go home?” She whispered almost pleading and she lowered her head when the queen refused.

“No but I’m sure that you would like these back.” She produced her daggers and Rose looked to them and she nodded going as if to grab them but she saw the guards move to their weapons so she stopped

"If she is offered them by the Queen then you keep your hands off of your swords."

“My prince she may have saved a few angels but this thing is still a demon.” One of the guards told him.

Rose squeezed her eyes shut for a minute after being called a thing again before she looked to the daggers. “My name is Rose.” She told them before she grabbed her daggers and left

"You refuse to do as your Queen says and you are being traitorous to the crown."

“That thing is the daughter of the monster who killed our people, you yourself do not believe that it is worth your time.” He spat

“Enough!” The queen suddenly commanded. “Azriel go and make sure she is okay I must speak with your father.”

Azriel narrowed his eyes at the guard, turning on his heel and heading off after Rose.

Rose was back in her room, she had shut all the doors just wanting to be alone. She was lying on her bed holding her daggers to her to comfort herself, she had tears falling but they were out of frustration and loneliness

Azriel knocked on the door

Rose looked to the door pulling one of the daggers from its holder just in case as she wiped her eyes and stood. “What do you want?” She asked

"I've been told to check on you."

She moved to unlock the door so that he could come in if he wanted

Azriel took a few steps inside, closing the door behind himself. "You look beat."

“It takes a lot of energy im not  early old enough to express that amount of control without being weakened just yet.” She informed him as she put her dagger back in its casing. “Sure you’re not here to kill me? Even I have to admit I have no magic to stop you, so it’s the perfect time to get rid of the ‘thing’.” The way she spoke was with tiredness and curiosity she wasn’t trying to have an attitude but people had tried to kill her and as a result she was weak from it.

"I am here to check on you, as I have been asked."

She nodded. “Okay.” She moved to sit in front of the fireplace that had nothing in it to light. “Can I have some thing to burn so that I can get some energy back?” She asked him.

"I'll get you some charcoal."

She nodded. “Thank you.” She told him with a soft smile placing her daggers on the table. “And tell your mother that I am grateful for having my daggers back.”

"Just don't prove my distrust of it correct."

“You know originally these weren’t made for fighting.” She informed him. “They were my grandfathers and he used them to communicate.”

"Communicate? How?"

“Each demon has something blessed by dark magic they can create a spell seal and the knives then act as a mirror for a scrying .”

"So he's died? That's why you have his things?"

“No he’s human so he can’t use them.” She told them. “Only those of magic can use them.”

"If he is human how did he have them to begin with?" He grimaced, nose wrinkled in confusion.

Seren wandered into hers and Thorin's rooms, hair pulled up into a messy bun with bags beneath her eyes. Gunter, skinnier than before, having been working with the witches to ensure Thorin's immortality.

Thorin was lying in their bed he had been unconscious for at least two years in agreement with the witches demands.

“You know when he wakes up he isn’t going to like seeing you like this.” Damian told him. “Go and sleep let me deal with things.” He asked her
