She looked away with him a pout on her lips.

"Oh, that pout stopped working a long time ago Coraline," Jean-Claude teased her.

She continued to pout.

Jean-Claude chuckled quietly and then froze as he turned the corner.

Amaryllis was knelt next to a body, at least a foot away and looking as if she'd been crying.

Coraline looked at him. "What's the matter?"

"Amaryllis..." Jean-Claude said quietly. "What happened?"

Amaryllis looked up nervously, trembling slightly. "H-He frightened me and I accidentally...I-I..."

Coraline got down from his arms and she picked Lloyd up when he ran to her.

"Is he...?"

"Dead," Amaryllis confirmed in a whisper. "I was looking around your property when he came up behind me and started shouting, s-something about Genevieve? And t-then he tried to push me and..." Amaryllis sobbed quietly, pressing a hand to her face.

She looked at Lloyd who was hiding his face in her chest.

"I-I'm so sorry, I-I don't know what to do o-or how to control it and...and..." Amaryllis sniffled into her hands. "Y-You're better off getting the pistol and killing me before anyone else suffers for this curse I have."

She looked at him.

Jean-Claude set his jaw before loosening his shoulders and shaking his head. "You came here for a better life, not to have it taken away. We'll figure something out. We have plentiful witches and magic users here who may be able to address your...troubles. Go inside. Coraline, can you take Lloyd in as well? I'll deal with...with disposal."

Coraline nodded and she looked at his cousin. "Come on, we will get this sorted out."

"I'm so sorry," Amaryllis whispered as she headed inside, making herself as small as possible and keeping as large a distance as possible between her and Coraline. "Humans die instantly. Werewolves and vampires are badly injured to begin with and die too, after prolonged contact, so please be careful."

Coraline nodded. "We will find a way to solve this." She promised.

"I don't tend to hold onto false hope," Amaryllis muttered, though she gave Coraline a heartfelt smile. "Thank you for at least appearing to care. My own mother couldn't even do that, and neither could my father."

"Here, it isn't false hope."

"I have seen a lot of people claiming they will help and...It has never ended well. Each failure makes me loathe myself even more, makes me wonder why I was born to this world."

"Tryst me, I have someone who will."

"Well, I'll sit on my hands and hope for the best."

"Just save it until the morning."

"I'm sorry for ruining the mood. You looked happy with my cousin."

"It's alright, you need our help."

Amaryllis smiled weakly. "I'm going to go to my room now, lest I cause any damage. It was nice speaking to you, though I'm unsure of your name."
