Adam opened his mouth to respond before losing the words he was about to say and just frowning deeply.

The smile Astrid had been faking slowly faded at her father lack of reactions, lowering her gaze to the ground without a word. Beginning to play with what remained of her food.

Mia just gave a small nod, whispering, "I'm glad."

Scott was sat in the hospital, at his younger brothers bedside in silence. Having been there since he had gotten a phone call about three hours ago.

Kara blinked her eyes open at the medication slowly wore itself off.

"Kara, hey," Noah greeted with a smile.

"I'd rather have a puppy than a baby."

"Well that's not your choice to make Zos."

"You'd like a younger sibling eventually, it's great, having a brother or sister." Adam told her quietly. "We're not saying no to the pet are we? Just that we need to discuss it."

"It's hard to try and pretend like things are okay when your not joining in on my rubbish way of trying to laugh." Astrid mumbled quietly.

"My dad and Lucas have the kids." Kira said quietly as she came in to sit by Scott's side. "How bad is he?"

Dex was attached to all sorts of tubes and wires to keep him alive, his body bruised and cut and bandaged.

"Hey you, remember me?" Violet said gently from Kara's side, giving her a smile.

"You don't have to make me laugh..."

"I like having you to myself though..."

"Better than the rest of them," Scott replied with a shake of his head, resting his hand on an unbruised section of his brothers arm and mumbling quietly, "How am I going to tell him when he eventually wakes up? He'll be crushed.. especially about dad."

Kara jumped slightly at Violet's voice before smiling widely and nodding.

"You laughing would help me laugh though..." Astrid explained with a small shrug, "I haven't heard anyone laugh in so long, no one at all... Other than yesterday, obviously."

Adam shook his head in response to that, "Even with a baby around we would still spend the same amount of time with you as we do now, princess, you don't have to worry about that."

"You break it to him gently, tell him when he's strong enough." Kira said quietly, before adding; "Your nephew survived, little Thomas. He should be out of hospital in a few days according to the doctors... He isn't that badly injured."

Violet grinned brightly at that, "How are you?"

"You wouldn't." Zosia sighed.

"You don't have to pretend things are okay..."

"If I pretend long enough then I'll able to believe it maybe, and then maybe I'll get used to the pain and will be able to cope better."

"Yeah we would, Zosia... why do you think we wouldn't?"

"But Zoe didn't... and he'll be taken into care if we can't look after him and how can we when we've got the triplets?" Scott asked, brushing his thumb against Dex's arm gently, "Dex'll need someone to look after him too depending what he's like when he wakes up.. and you're still grieving your mum... How are we going to get through this Kir? Everyones just.."

Kara sat her up, wincing violently as she did so and whispering, "My head hurts."

"Take it easy." Noah frowned.

"Together." Kira said as she took his hand. "We'll get through this together. Tommy is the same age as the triplets, just a few weeks older. We know how to care for him, and it looks like we have no choice unless you want him in care... As for Dex... I could give him my blood when it looks like he's not in danger anymore and there's no chance of him dying and turning."

Violet hesitated before biting into her wrist and offering it to Kara. "Here... Drink. It'll help I promise."

Adam just sighed deeply and rubbed her back.

"Because grandma said her siblings didn't get enough attention because there were so many."

"Tommy'll be distraught though, if he was a baby it wouldn't so awful for him losing Zoey but he'll be asking about her..." Scott whispered with a shake of his head, nodding hesitantly in response to what she said about Dex.

"That's gross. No." Kara replied with a grimace, shaking her head.

"Come on Kar," Noah encouraged, "Think of it like medicine."

"I don't like medicine."

Noah rolled his eyes, "It makes you better though doesn't it?"

Adam frowned and shook his head in the negative, "Because their were so many of them, we can spread out time out equally to the two of you. Really, don't worry Zosia."

Astrid was silent then.

Mia closed her eyes and kissed him back deeply.

Zosia just shook her head. "Don't want a sister or a brother."

"Please Kara, it'll make you well and you can go home. You've been in here almost a year."

"I know, but we'll cope Scottie... We'll have to."

"I missed Christmas?" She asked with a small whine, blinking a few times and glancing around. Confusion flashing across her face.

Scott just let out a deep sigh, tilting his head back to look at the ceiling.

Adam frowned deeply in response to that.

"Mm... Can we do something today? Go somewhere.."

"He'll be okay. He's strong." Kira whispered.

"We have a flight to catch soon don't we?"

Kara smiled widely, that being all the motivation she needed as she reached over to grab Violet's wrist gently, though her confidence faded as she grimaced at her wrist. Unsure what exactly to do.

"Mm, to get back home." She nodded, "But we could go sight seeing before we go to the airport."

Adam brushed Zosia's hair back off of her face gently, musing silently to himself, "You need a haircut soon."

"Who now, Dex or Tommy?"

"I wanna grow my hair long like the princess and it's gonna be long enough to throw out of the tower and have a prince climb up it!"

"Dex. But it applied to Tommy too."

"Just drink the blood from the wound." Violet encouraged.

He just gave a subtle nod, whispering, "Dex looks so bad though..."

Adam laughed a bit and shook his head in the negative, looking to Olivia to see what her reaction to that was.

Astrid nodded subtly, whispering, "It something to do so...."

Kara grimaced before placing her mouth over Violet's wrist and drinking.

"He's strong. He'll pull through. Keep hope."

Violet watched quietly as she smoothed Kara's hair down.

"I'll meet you down stairs in a few minutes then?" Adam said as he got off the bed, he was already dressed and wanted to give her space to get ready.

"I won't be locking you up in a tower, princess or not." Olivia laughed.

Kara moved away when she felt better thanks to the blood, seconds later throwing her arms around Violet in a hug and whispering, "I miss you... are you going to move back in with me and Uncle Noah again? So we can be a family... you always used to say that word 'family' when you referred to the tree of us.. come back?"

Noah frowned a little bit at Kara's words.

Scott just inhaled shakily before giving a subtle nod.

Astrid nodded in response to that.

"I imagine being locked in a tower isn't all that great anyway." Adam replied, "You don't need to wait for people to come and save you, Zosia. You'd be able to get yourself out of an awful situation like that I'm sure."

"I'm with someone else now Kara. His names Peter and I like him quite a lot. But I still think you're family to me."

Adam got up and headed out.

"Dex won't go without a fight."

Kara frowned deeply in response to that, moving away from the hug in silence.

"I know, I know." He mumbled quietly, "They uh.. won't let me see Zoey's body, or tell me what exactly they think happened in the crash? Could you go and compel it out of them, please? I need to know and it looks like Dex won't be waking up anytime soon."

Astrid watched him go and a few minutes later walked into the room her father was in.

"I wanna be rescued by a prince though..."

Kira nodded a little, kissing him before getting up and heading out.

"You all ready?" Adam asked.

"You're not going to come live with us again so you don't.." Kara mumbled quietly, before looking to Noah and asking, "Can we go home?"

Noah nodded subtly in response to that, "I'm sure we can." he whispered before adding, "Don't blame her, hm? Sometimes things just work out differently to how we would all want. I still care for her very much, but if she's found someone else she cares for then it's fine too. I'm sure she'll still come and visit, see you."

Scott watched her go before looking over Dex properly, grimacing at all the bruising as he whispered, "You better wake up, Dex."

Astrid nodded in response to that, "Mhm, I am."

"Why?"

"Because the princes ride horses and you get to live happily her after..."

"Of course I'll come visit." Violet nodded.

Adam nodded and headed out, grimacing a little when he noticed Karl and Eri in the hotel doorway, as Eri's reaction to him usually wasn't a good one.

Dex remained unconscious and unmoving as the machine helped him breathe

"Uh, Zoe had a broken neck, died instantly from the impact of the other car. Her body is pretty bad, I won't lie to you. Your mother would've been the same as she was sat right behind Zoe. Your dad was driving, they brought him here and tried to revive him but his heart just gave out. Dex was in between your mum and tommy, it's because of him absorbing the shock that Tommy is still alive..."
