Anders scratched his arm where the cat had licked him. "Mm..is it just you here?"


Nikolas was walking down one of the sidewalks his head low so his hair fell into his face some flicking a lighter on and off to watch the flame.

"Yeah," Kennedy whispered quietly, "Just me, my parents died four years ago, that's why I've been out of... Everything really since."

Vivian was leant forward against her white pocket fence, tilting her head to the side when she saw him.

"And it's easy to assume you have no way of fending for yourself then?"


He didn't really notice her holding the palm of his hand over the flame grinning at the slight heat it gave off.

"I have words, and talk, and empty threats." Kennedy replied with a small shrug. "I just have to get through until I can make my own fire, then I'll be okay."

She tilted her head to the side as she watched.

"And when will that be?"


As the flame went out Nik pressed the button again but it flicked and died. Cursing under his breath he shoved the lighter into his pocket along with his hands.

"When I'm twenty one... In three years time." She whispered quietly in response to that.

"You want to borrow a lighter?" Vivian called gently with a small frown

"Three years can be a long time girlie especially around here if you don't play your cards right with the locals."


Nikolas snapped his head up staring at her for a moment. "No that won't be necessary." He replied shifting the front of jacket some and flicking up the collar around his neck.

((He'd have his wings and abilities now right? Or be learning them cause he's 21?))

"I've lasted four on my own," She replied quietly with a small shrug. "I'm fine, I'll be fine…. Just need fire; just need heat and I'll be fine."

"You sure?" She asked quietly before whispering, "I haven't seen you around much before, you new?"

"Mm I suppose I could be new or maybe I'm just passing through I haven't exactly decided yet." He laughed glancing towards the forest which wasn't to far away.


Anders shook his head. "Doesn't mean you can continue on alone. Most don't make it typically."

"Come on in if you like, I made myself way too much food." She offered gently with a wide smile.

"I'm not most," She replied with a shake of her head. "Don't act like you care; I know you don't, not really."

"If I didn't care at all or was worried I highly doubt you'd be sitting in my home."


Nik raised an eyebrow at her. "Do you always invite strangers into your home or is this town just one of those weird ones that trust everyone?"

"No, no I think it's just me." She chuckled gently, offering him a bright smile.

"Mm," Kennedy hummed quietly in response to that, "Come sit by me...?"

Smirking a bit he made his way up the walkway towards her. "I see. So you are?..."


Anders shook his head sitting up at the same time he placed the cat on the floor. "I don't trust you that much."

The cat stared at Kennedy it's fur raised along it's back trying to decide what to do before it dashed out of the room.

"My names Vivian, what's yours?" She asked with a small grin as she headed into her home, assuming he would follow her inside.

She let out a deep sigh, just laying down on her stomach and resting her hand on his arms gently; "Here kitty kitty..." she cooed.

Anders involuntarily flinched away slightly before recovering his composure. "She's not going to come to you. Not right away anyway."


"Nik or uh Nikolas either works." He replied checking around him first before heading inside.

"It's your go to tell me about you," She whispered quietly after letting out a small sigh. "I've just told you really fucking personal stuff, so it's your go..."

"Nikki," She chuckled gently in response to that, frowning when she noticed his caution and whispering, "It's okay, no one'll hurt you here."

He rolled his eyes at her. "It's just me. My parents have been gone for some time now I'm not even exactly sure how long anymore. I had a sister once but she's gone now aswell." He began lightly whistling for his cat whom didn't come. "We came here together, this is her place really. Mostly it keep to myself, humans are untrustworthy and the elves are always frightened."


Nikolas clenched his hands in frustration. "It's Nik I'm not some little girl and trust me I'm not afraid of being hurt."

"I was teasing," She replied with a deep sigh, "Why're you being so cautious then, hm? There aren't any bad people around here."

"Elves are jumpy creatures, don't even trust their own most of the time." Kennedy replied simply, "I understand the mistrust in humans though, I've never trusted them either."

"Trust isn't easy to come by. I tend to find myself in trouble mostly." He answered letting his eyes scan around the room."


"Those two are the jumpest I've seen so far. The boy mainly though from what I can tell." He told her rubbing at his neck a moment. "Humans I stay far away from. Except one she's safe."

"Except one? Who?" Kennedy asked quietly in response to that before muttering, "I wonder what's happened to those elves to make them that jumpy of.... Everyone."

"Ah," Vivian whispered softly in understanding to that, "You uh, you can trust me..." she assured gently.

After a few hours, Noah wandered outside once again. Heading over to Faylee's quietly.

Wyatt began to whine softly in his sleep.

"A young girl in the town she's close with those elves." He explained shrugging his shoulders. "Dunno but I'd say they've had it tough."


He raised an eyebrow. "We'll see."


Faylee had ended up inside baking a batch of cookies that she knew Wyatt and Rowen liked most humming softly to some song that was on the radio.


The whine woke Rowen who scooted over and ran her hand through his hair comfortingly. "Shh it's alright..."

Wyatt's eyes flew open at the physical contact, going to flinch away until he realised who it was and just leant towards her. Closing her eyes and trembling slightly.

Noah quietly let himself inside, "Uh... Hello?"

"Ah, you're too good lucking for me to do anything bad to, not that I would anyway." Vivian replied with a bright smile, glancing over her shoulder at him.

"Everyone has," Kennedy muttered quietly.

"Sorry..." She whispered quietly smoothing his hand then rubbing a thumb against his cheek. "Do you want to talk of it?"


"Noah?" She asked peering around the wall from the kitchen. 


Anders nodded. "Yeah but they're more uh childlike then the rest of us."


"Is that so?" He laughed.

"We need to talk; about earlier." Noah replied quietly.

"Mm, no.. No." Wyatt whispered quietly, shuffling back on the sofa and patting the small spot beside him for her. "Come 'ere." he mumbled drowsily, "Lay by me.."

"Mm, I never would of guessed. More stupid too." Kennedy replied with a roll of her eyes.
