"I'm so not in the mood to put up with parental figures, anyone would think we were children." She mumbled, wandering out of the room to run herself a bath.

"Why don't we just... get rid of him? The two of us could overpower him - he only gets us because of the power of surprise."

"A dog person?" He snorted. "I actually hate dogs, they're far too needy. I couldn't look after something the way dogs need to bed looked after."

"Mm, just me." Aled called back, wandering into the livingroom and flopping down onto the arm chair beside the couch. Elbows resting on his knees as he leant forward to put his head in his hands.

"Well, I would always help of course." She told him playfully. "I love all animals...Except spiders."

Eris looked at him. "That's not a bad idea..." She sat back on her bank and she looked to him. "How would you suppose we do it?"

He followed her, he knew and understood how she felt, he's kept his own father away for the same reason. "Speaking of parental figures...I wanted to run something by you."

"If you want a dog to look after then I suggest you adopt your own because I am much more a cat person." Elliot chuckled. "My new friend will come around to liking me, you'll see. She and I will be best buddies by the end of the week."

"I don't know, you're the genius Chaos witch, are you not?"

A giggle slipped past her lips as she kissed him.

"Bad day?" She asked quietly, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"At this point I'm just a choas witch." She told him, before she seemed to spark an idea. "Actually, I might have an idea." She moved to get to her feet. "Come with me."

"I know my dad is a dick and we don't have much to do with him through him being a dick...But I was wondering your stance on introducing Rose to my mother."

Belle laughed softly, moving to roll onto her side to look at him. "Okay, I'll make you a deal, if you can get your new furry friend to like you by the end of the week, I owe you something and if you can't you owe me something."

He pulled her closer as he kissed her.

"Long I - I think. What's the date today?" He questioned, having done a double shift plus overtime it had been 38 hours since he had last been home - or slept. "There was... there was this - this kid. Shit, like... t- ten. She was ten and I cou- couldn't.. I-" He cut off with a guttural sound, a sob that erupted deep from his chest.

"It would be fine if she could come here but - but she can't, can she?"

"So favours come with conditions now, do they?" Elliot snorted his amusment. "Are you the animal whisperer?"

“Would t say this was a favour more like abet with a prize.”

“No we would have to go to her which is why I wanted to discuss it with you.”

She brought him into the forest to a large cave like structure.

Rylee inched closer, deepening the kiss slowly.

"Tuesday. The- uhh.." She had to take a pause and glance at a calendar that was on the end table. "Tuesday the 26th." She tried not to keep track of the hours too much while he was gone as it made her nervous being alone for so long but she filled it with reading and watching TV in hopes of remembering something. At what he told her, she slid off the couch and onto the floor slipping her arms around him. "I've got you.. I've got you."

He moved to press kisses to her neck

"The prize being me having to make a decision." He laughed. "I want nothing from you, Belle."

"We aren't - No. I don't want your father near her, Damian. I don't think I even really want my own father near her at the minute."

Caspian followed.

Aled muffled the noise of his sobs as he leant down to bury his face against her shoulder, lifting his hands up to grip her lower arms. Eventually able to form words; "I don't think I am cut out for this. I - What is th- the point of my job if I ca- can't save a kid?"

“Not even my amazing chocolate brownies?” She asked as she went into her bag and pulled out a box full of brownies for him.

He nodded in understanding. “Okay.”

She looked to him and then the cave. “It’s pretty deep we could do a locking spell in the cave so whoever enters besides us can’t get out.” She augvested

"Are you holding me hostage with your brownies as a ransom?" He questioned with a chuckle. "Why have you even made those? It isn't a special occasion, is it?"

"Locking spell... i - I can't do anything fancy like that, you know that."

"I'm sorry. We need to keep her safe, and I wouldn't put anything past him."

“Not really I was just bored so I decided to make some.” She shrugged.

“No but I can.” She told him. “I’ve been trying to branch out my magic.”

He nodded. “In understand.”

She hummed softly, tilting her head to the side for him.

Reagan sat there on her knees hugging him, her fingers gently combing through his hair. "You tried, Aled. You did the best that you could and that's why you're doing this, isn't it? To help people.. because you want to help people?"

He pulled away as he heard the door opening. “Uncle Max! Auntie Ryee!” Lilys voice shouted she could t fully pronounce Rylees name yet

"Mmm, Fine. How would we get him here though?"

"Just shitty, isn't it?" She whispered. "Wish we could replace my dad with your mom, it'd be better. She's nice, she isn't... jaded, doesn't hate me, doesn't hate you. She is just.. light."

"When you are bored you cook? I can't say I have ever been so bored."

"B- But she d- died. A - A kid. I - I was mea- meant to be able to-" Aled's words cut off, unable to breath, yet alone sob. His chest heaving at the effort to drag the tiniest breath in as he pulled himself away from her and looked away. Firmly stating minutes later; "I am not cut out for this."

“Well I only bake not a great cook to be honest.”

He nodded. “Unfortunately life seems to want to remain ridiculous.”

“That’s the part I haven’t worked out yet.”

"Bake, cook - same difference."

"Mm."

"Seems so. We only ever seem to fight when other people stick their oars in."

“Not really but I’ll let that one slide and put it down to sun sickness.” She told him playfully

“That is true.” He told her as he jostled the baby on his hip to keep her happy.

She frowned as she walked around trying to come up with an idea

Caspian was silent

"Mm," She hummed, running herself a bath.

He watched her.

“Whatever you say.” She was still being playful. “So do you want a brownie or not?”

Rylee jumped back from him so quickly when the door opened that she bashed the back of her head off the the headboard behind her, startling herself even more.

Reagan frowned at how badly he was taking this and she was scared he would actually make himself sick. "I'm sorry, I don't know how that must feel for you.. " she remained where she was sitting on the floor. "Why did you take up this profession in the first place?"

"Lily, what are you doing here?"


Lily was saton the edge of their bed, her small wings shimmering. "Look at my wings!" She told hi excitedly.

She rubbed the back of her head, winching softly as she looked at the little one. "We'll look at you, such a big girl now, aren't you?"

Lily giggled. "Feel them Auntie Ryee, they're so soft."
