Creatures of the Dark

Rylee made a silly face at him.

He looked to her. “The need to take the soul is harder and harder to ignore with the more time that has passed.”  He explained. “She has a minute left at most.” He got to his feet. “I need to give her more time, he’s not going to get the time he needs.”

“How can you…it’s not an easy answer.” She told him, forcing herself to stay awake though it was proving more diffficult. “The pain…will it stop?”

He smiled softly

"No. Every shift will hurt, your bones break and reform. It always hurts, every time."

"I know, I know." Alessia whispered. "Sit back down, try and stay sat down. Pacing won't help."

((( Night night ))

She went back to watching the movie.

He watched the movie with her

“Why is everything so difficult?” She whispered before she winced her free hand resting on her chest. “I…I need to sleep.” She whispered. “Please let me sleep,”

“I’m not going to pace…I can buy her time, only an extra few minutes but he needs to tell her.”

She was asleep by the end of the movie.

Max smiled softly

"Is that what you're choosing? Are you choosing to leave?" Elliott stressed, knuckles white as he gripped onto the edge of the chair he was upon. Voice strained.

"And how are you going to do that?"

Rylee was in a light sleep.

Damian looked to her. “You might not like it but I can share some of my life with her, give her enough time to make her decision and then take it back.”

“I just want the pain to stop.” She told him, she had gotten that weak that her body just wanted to sleep to stop the pain.

Max lay beside her holding her close

She had curled her fingers around the hem of his shirt.

"No. No, you have a daughter - you need all of your life for her, Damian." Alessia hissed, space under her eyes darkening. "You think I can be a fire bitch right now, don't do something that will hurt your daughter down the line and you will see how bad I can be when I am trying."

"A werewolf - yes or no?! Yes or no?!" He began to yell then,  terror seeping his voice as he rose to his feet and began to pace. Yelling; "Damian! Get here!"

He smiled softly feeling her

“It’s not to that extent I’d still be alive, don’t forget my life is infinite,” he explained. “It wouldn’t kill me or affect my life with her or you in the future.” He assured her. He looked up as he heard Elliot. “Yelling won’t help Elliot.” He muttered. “Come on I might need your help to calm him down this time.”

"The first step to calming someone down is not to tell them how they are dealing with it is wrong," Alessia advices quietly. "Your life is not infinite. You don't age, but you are not indestructible- we learned that the day of the earthquake. Do not fo it, Damian. Be a hero by supporting your friend, not by making your daughter and me suffer further down the line."

She slept for the remainder of the movie.

“Don’t worry he can’t hear me down here anyway.” He told her. “Might not get the chance to help anyway so let’s not worry about it.” He told her as he held a hand out for hers as he headed upstairs. He knocked on the door to the room he put Belle in and he walked to Elliot. “I’m here.” He told him. “Tell me what you need me to do.”

He stopped the movie when it reached the end.

"I don't know, I don't know. I don't know." He was sobbing by the time Damian entered the room, colourless face hidden by his palms.his knees tucked into the chest as he tried to make himself as small as possible. "She won't give me an answer and I can't - i can't- not without her saying she wants- but I can't lo- lose h- eithe- I- I-" A heartbroken scream was muffled as Alessia, just in time, pulled the hysterical wolf against her with a vice like grip and brought his head into shoulder. The scream a mixture of emotional distress, and physical pain too - whatever soul bond he had formed with Belle beginning to tear apart, thread by thread.

he looked to the clock again. “She’s ran out of time, her body was shutting down.” Damian looked to Belle and he moved to sit on the edge of the bed his eyes going white as he moved to take one of her hands. “Sorry Belle I need you to have more time.” He moved a hand to her chest speaking one word it was almost like he sent an electric current through her body it was enough to keep her alive for now. “Elliot, come here she Needs to see your face.”

She still hadn't let go of him in her sleep.

He rested his head on top of hers and he let his mind wander

"He can't." Alessia grimaced, tightening his grip around Elliott. "You do it, get the answers that are needed, Damian. The man can't-" She frowned as Elliott pushed her off, choking on so she as he approached the bed. Nearly stumbling.

She was more tired than she had thought, sleeping for several hours.

He let her sleep choosing to read for now.”

Damian stood to hold his friend, keeping him steady. “Please trust me, I’ve managed to stop her soul for now to give you more time to discuss this, I’m sorry this had to happen, but use my strength for now it’s there for you.” He told him. “I’m right here with you.”

"I've already asked. I've already asked, several times." His words were barely coherent, razor blades in his throats with how hoarse his tone was. Sobs still erupting. So, instead of saying anything, he leant down and pressed his forehead against Belle's. Closing his eyes to stop the tears streaming, but doing so unsuccessfully.

Rylee woke up slowly, blinking up at him and rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
